Creek Boys raid the Raiders

Swails and Withrow put up 17 points each in CCAs 77-52 win over Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG– Clear Creek Amana’s (CCA) varsity boys solidified their top-of-the-WaMaC West standing with a 77-52 win over rival Williamsburg in a WaMaC West showdown Tuesday, Dec. 22, in the Raiders’ gym.
The Clippers found themselves sinking at the end of the first period as the Raiders knocked holes in the “Boats” for a 19-9 lead, but a 25-point effort by CCA in the second gave the boys in blue a 34-27 halftime advantage. The onslaught continued in the third as the Creek Boys pounded in the baskets, outscoring the Raiders 23-14 for a 57-41 lead going into the final quarter.
Ben Swails and Christian Withrow put up 17 points apiece to lead the Creek with 15 from Mike Potter, and 10 from Brock Reade. Reade made six assists with five from Withrow while Potter again dominated on the boards with 10 rebounds.
2021 action begins on Tuesday, Jan. 5, as Benton Community visits CCA ahead of a Friday, Jan. 8, visit to South Tama by the Clippers.
The win boosted the Boats to 5-2 overall and 5-1 in the WaMaC West, well ahead of the 2-4 Raiders and 2-5 Stormin’ Pointers of Center Point-Urbana.
