Net Usage
Bernie Erb, student at North Central Junior High School, uses a net to extract living organisms out of Muddy Creek near the walking trail in North Liberty on April 20. Erb and his fellow seventh graders were part of the school's annual Defenders of Muddy Creek unit and culminating event, during which students learn about water conservation and protection, pollution prevention and the impact of runoff to local watersheds. Some students, including Erb, collected water samples and tested the water quality, while other groups removed trash and debris from the creek's banks downstream. For more information and photographs from the event, see page 20. (photo by Lori Lindner)
