A way to say thank you for what they’ve done for us

Swisher Men’s Club honors veterans

SWISHER– Jose N. Harris is quoted as writing, “A veteran is someone, who at one point in their life, wrote a blank check payable to the United States of America for an amount up to, and including, their life. Regardless of personal or political views, there are way too many people in this country who no longer remember that fact…”
The Swisher Men’s Club decided to not only remember that fact, but also make a visual statement of gratitude.
On Friday, Nov. 6. members of the club installed 50 banners in Swisher honoring Swisher area veterans in honor of Veterans Day (Wednesday, Nov. 11).

CCA’s drama dept. makes major shift for fall play to abide by COVID-19 restrictions

TIFFIN– Improvisation is a skill actors must learn, and comes in handy when fellow actors forget their lines. But what happens when a worldwide pandemic still has a firm grip, resulting in a host of restrictions and limitations; and your best-scripted plan for a fall play doesn’t fit?
You improvise.

Jack O’ Lanterns take center stage at the Ranshaw House

North Liberty’s second community pumpkin display garners 42 entries

NORTH LIBERTY– Linus surely would’ve approved.
Charles M. Schulz’s “Peanuts” character famously sat in a pumpkin patch on Halloween awaiting “The Great Pumpkin.” For two nights in North Liberty, Linus would’ve had the historic Ranshaw House as a majestic background while awaiting his Santa Claus-like supernatural being.

Something a little different

Infuse Church holds a trick-or-treat parade in Tiffin

TIFFIN– Amid the near-constant drumbeat of social distancing, and guidelines for safe trick-or-treating in the year of the COVID-19 virus, Infuse Church devised a way for the community to celebrate Halloween without the need to go door-to-door.
The church held a trick-or-treat parade Saturday, Oct. 31, (Halloween), which featured the Tiffin Fire Department and a few local businesses distributing candy along a parade route encircling the north side of Tiffin.
The church meets on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. at Tiffin Elementary School.
