• GFWC/Iowa Solon Women’s Club Scholarships
Two $500 scholarships to Solon High School Seniors based on Character, Volunteerism and Achievement.
As a member of the GFWC/Iowa State organization, The Solon Women’s Club encourages and sponsors students applying for GFWC/Iowa State Scholarships. The Iowa General Federation of Women’s Clubs, GFWC/Iowa, is the proud sponsor of a scholarship program unique to the State of Iowa. Each year, thousands of dollars are awarded to graduating high school seniors who will attend post-secondary schools. Scholarships are awarded based on community volunteerism, achievement, and in some cases, financial need or field of study. Unless specified, both males and females are eligible. Scholarships range from $500 to $1,000. Scholarships will be given primarily to college undergraduates, but are also available for graduate students and for adults returning to school. There are designated scholarships to be awarded for those planning to study music and law or for students studying at junior colleges or technical schools. An undesignated undergraduate is also available.
• GFWC/Iowa Solon Women’s Club campships
GFWC/Iowa sponsors several music campships for interested eighth-12th grade music students (must have graduated from the seventh grade before attending the camp). These awards may be applied toward tuition, and room and board at a summer music camp within Iowa. Campships are awarded in the amount of $400. Award recipients are responsible for the balance of their costs. Campships are awarded through a generous gift to GFWC/Iowa by the E. Lucille Miller estate, as well as yearly contributions from local GFWC/Iowa Clubs.
Applicants are urged to request a scholarship packet as soon as possible as a letter and/or page about yourself and letters of recommendation will be needed to complete the application packet.
