Six Bolts named to MVC All Division Volleyball teams

Liberty’s Hartman, Kimm and Hested earn First Team honors

NORTH LIBERTY– The Mississippi Valley Athletic Conference released its 2020 All-Division Volleyball selections on Tuesday, Oct. 27, with six Liberty High School student athletes recognized for their efforts by being named to Mississippi Division teams.
Cassidy Hartman, Shelby Kimm and Haley Hested were picked for the First Team, with Hartman a unanimous selection. Senior Addie Schmierer was named to the Second Team while junior Sam Harvey and senior Lauren Roman earned Honorable Mention.
The Lightning advanced out of postseason regional competition with a 22-2 record to play in their second consecutive state tournament on Monday, Nov. 2, against West Des Moines Valley High School in the quarterfinals.

2020 Mississippi Valley Conference All-Division Volleyball Mississippi Division Selections for Liberty High School
First Team — Cassidy Hartman, Shelby Kimm, Haley Hested.
Hartman, a sophomore and unanimous pick, led the Bolts with 269 kills in 64 sets played (ahead of the state tournament). She made 18 solo blocks, had nine block assists, and made 183 digs. In addition, Hartman produced 27 ace serves and made five assists.
Kimm, a sophomore, was second highest on the squad in kills with 167 and led in solo blocks with 39. She also made 10 block assists, 56 digs and 23 ace serves.
Hested, a senior, was the Bolts’ primary setter with 394 assists ahead of the state tournament. She made 14 kills, one block assist, 117 digs, and produced 19 ace serves.
Second Team — Addie Schmierer
Schmierer, a senior, was Liberty’s primary libero with 216 digs, two kills, and 49 assists. In addition, Schmierer produced 22 ace serves ahead of the state tournament.
Honorable Mention — Sam Harvey, Lauren Roman
Harvey, a junior, produced 110 kills for the Lightning ahead of the state tournament, made one assist, 13 solo blocks and 13 block assists, and 27 digs. Harvey also made 14 ace serves.
Roman, a senior, had 41 kills and one assist, 21 solo blocks, 22 block assists and three digs.
