North Liberty Community Pantry seeking Volunteers in the New Year

NORTH LIBERTY– North Liberty Community Pantry (NLCP) hosts new volunteer orientation on Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at North Liberty Community Pantry, located at 89 N. Jones Boulevard.
The pantry is looking for passionate and dedicated individuals wishing to help alleviate food insecurity in the community. After distributing a record 427,700 pounds of food and toiletries in 2019, NLCP is seeking additional help to fulfill the operation’s needs. Individuals available daytime and afternoons are strongly encouraged to apply. NLCP also needs individuals who are able to help unload and process weekly food donations. Some moderate lifting is required.
“Volunteering is a great way to stay active” said Emily Meirick, Volunteer and Services Coordinator at the Pantry. “Many, but not all, of our volunteers are retired and want to keep busy. Giving back to the community is a great way to do that. They also make life-long friends.”
North Liberty Community Pantry exists to “engage our community in feeding and clothing our neighbors.” NLCP serves individuals from North Liberty, along with surrounding rural areas of Johnson County, including Oxford, Tiffin, Solon, Swisher and Shueyville.
If interested in joining a fun, friendly and helpful volunteer team this New Year, contact pantry staff at volunteer@northlibertycommunitypantry.org, or call 319-626-2711.
