North Liberty Community Pantry needs volunteers

NORTH LIBERTY– North Liberty Community Pantry (NLCP) needs volunteers to help distribute food.
The pantry is seeking passionate and dedicated individuals who wish to help alleviate food insecurity in the community. After seeing an increase in new families needing assistance due to COVID-19 and the derecho storm, NLCP is seeking additional help to fulfill the operation’s needs. Individuals available for daytime and afternoons helping take orders and carry out groceries are strongly encouraged to sign up. Protective equipment is both required and provided. Moderate lifting is required.
“We have seen over a 60 percent decrease in volunteers due to the pandemic,” said Emily Meirick, volunteer and services coordinator at the pantry. “The decrease in volunteers compounded with the increase in workload has put us in a difficult position. Given the tumultuous year, our community needs us now more than ever.”
North Liberty Community Pantry exists to “engage our community in feeding and clothing our neighbors.” NLCP serves individuals from North Liberty, along with surrounding rural areas of Johnson County, including Oxford, Tiffin, Solon, Swisher and Shueyville.
