Five Trojans, one Clipper make First Team picks

IHSBCA and INA recognizes West and CCA baseball players

COUNCIL BLUFFS– The Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association (IHSBCA) announced its picks for 2017 All-District Teams with student athletes from Iowa City West High and Clear Creek Amana (CCA) making the cut.
Four West High Trojans– Izaya Ono-Fullard, Braden Houston, Jason Strunk and Connor McCaffery– found spots on the Class 4A Northeast All-District First Team. Ono-Fullard, a senior, had a .419 batting average and was named as third baseman. Houston, a junior, earned a spot as a pitcher with a 6-1 record. Strunk, a sophomore, had a .364 batting average and was named as an outfielder, while McCaffery was named as a utility player. McCaffery, a senior, hit with a .387 average and claimed a 6-1 record on the mound.
Nate Disterhoft was a Second Team pick as a utility player. Disterhoft, a senior, hit with a .389 batting average.
CCA’s Kobey Schlotman was named to the Class 3A Southeast All-District First Team as a pitcher. A senior, Schlotman compiled a 7-1 record for the Clippers.
The Iowa Newspaper Association (INA) also released their All-State selections with Houston, Ono-Fullard and McCaffery earning Class 4A First Team spots at catcher, infield and outfield respectively.
