Clipper boys sixth at Cole Collinge Relays

Two Nicks post top individual finishes for CCA

CEDAR FALLS– Clear Creek Amana’s (CCA) boy’s track and field team had a challenging evening Thursday, April 20, at the Cole Collinge Relays, in Cedar Falls. The varsity Creek Boys finished sixth in a nine-team field led by the host Tigers with 177 team points. Cedar Rapids Prairie (157), Waterloo West (82), Waverly-Shell Rock (73), Dike-New Hartford (66), the Clippers (53), Charles City (39), Mason City (38) and Waterloo East (37) rounded out the field.
A pair of Nicks had the Clippers’ best individual performances; Nick Gerard was third in the 200-meter dash in 24.51 seconds and Nick O’Connor took third in the 3,000-meter run.
“Freshman Nick O’Connor had a huge PR (personal record) in the 3,200 – 10:18 and change, which puts him fourth on our Top-5 All-Time list,” Coach Ben Robison said. “Our 1,600-meter medley relay also clocked a season’s best. All in all, we got some good work in last night. We had guys run quite a few events out of the norm. It’s time to refocus and regroup a little bit. We are excited to kind of pull everything together for our home meet next week and then onto championship season.”
Regional competition and a shot at the state coed meet is set for Thursday, May 11.
