Clipper boys fourth, girls sixth at WaMaC West golf tournament

McCarty leads CCA with 37 points

TAMA– The Clear Creek Amana (CCA) varsity boys’ golf team placed fourth in the eight-team field of the WaMaC West Tuesday, May 2, in the divisional golf tournament held in Tama.
Benton Community won the tourney with a total of 159, followed by Williamsburg (160), Independence (177), the Creek Boys (180), Center Point-Urbana (181), Vinton-Shellsburg (185), Marion (189) and South Tama (200).
Brandon McCarty led the Clippers with 37 and was the medalist runner-up behind Williamsburg’s Isaac Knock, who shot a 36.
The Clippers will travel to the Flint Hills Golf Course in Burlington on Thursday, May 11, for a Class 3A sectional meet starting at 10 a.m. Fort Madison, Keokuk, Mount Pleasant, Mount Vernon, Notre Dame-Burlington, Solon and Washington will also compete. Teams and individuals advancing out of the sectional will play in a Friday, May 19, district meet at the Edmundson Golf Course in Oskaloosa for a shot at the state tournament.

Greathouse leads CCA with 48 points

VAN HORNE– The Clear Creek Amana (CCA) varsity girls golf team placed sixth out of eight teams in the WaMaC West Division Tuesday, May 2, at the divisional tournament held at the Tara Hills Country Club near Van Horne.
Independence won the meet with a total score of 192, followed by Vinton-Shellsburg (202), Benton Community (210), Williamsburg (210), Marion (216), The Creek Girls (218), Center Point-Urbana (225) and South Tama (244).
Allison Greathouse again led the Clippers with a 48 to tie for the medalist runner-up spot.
The Clippers will travel to the St. Andrews Golf Club in Cedar Rapids on Monday, May 22, for a Class 4A regional tournament hosted by Cedar Rapids Xavier.
