O’Connor and Barker lead the way for CCA

IOWA CITY– Clear Creek Amana’s (CCA) varsity boys cross country team was the runner-up squad on Thursday, Aug. 31, at Iowa City Regina’s Bob Brown Cross Country Classic, held at the Kickers Soccer Park, in Iowa City. Mount Vernon-Lisbon won the boys meet with a total score of 63 followed by the Clippers with 84.
Nick O’Connor led the Creek Boys with a sixth-place finish, followed by teammate Brandon Barker in seventh.
“It was a very good night for my guys,” Coach Ben Robison said. “Especially with tired legs; we are still on a major training block. I love how the guys are responding to the training and I love how bought-in they seem to be. They’ve got big goals and as we transition to the competition phase of the season, I’m looking for big things.”
The Creek Boys run Saturday, Sept. 9, at Benton Community’s invitational, in Van Horne, starting at 9 a.m. and travel to Edmundson Park, in Oskaloosa, on Tuesday, Sept. 12, for a 4:30 p.m. invitational. CCA travels to Solon on Monday, Sept. 18, for the Spartan’s meet, at the Solon Recreation and Nature Area, with a 5 p.m. start.

Kaylie Barker leads the way again for CCA

IOWA CITY– The Clear Creek Amana (CCA) varsity girls cross country team posted a 10th-place finish Thursday, Aug. 31, in Iowa City Regina’s Bob Brown Invitational at Kickers Soccer Park, in Iowa City.
Monticello took the girls meet with 42 team points, Marion was the runner-up followed by Solon. Regina was the seventh-place team, Liberty High was eighth and the Creek Girls were 10th in team points with 261.
Kaylie Barker led CCA with a 12th-place finish in 21:55.70.
