CCA hires new associate superintendent

OXFORD– The Clear Creek Amana (CCA) Community School district has announced the hiring of Matt Leeman as Associate Superintendent/Director of Secondary Curriculum.
The new position will primarily oversee instructional programming for the district, working closely with directors and principals, but will also collaborate in other areas, according to a district press release.
The district interviewed four candidates for the position.
Candidates were interviewed by a teacher team, principal team, director team, and CCA Superintendent Tim Kuehl. School board members, Jen Mooney, Nikki Knapp and Bob Broghammer were included in the teams. The groups compiled lists of strengths and areas of concern for each candidate, the press release noted.
“At the conclusion of the process, Mr. Leeman's knowledge of curriculum and instruction, along with his demonstrated abilities to move change initiatives forward while fostering a positive, collaborative culture set him apart from the highly qualified pool of candidates,” Kuehl said. “While sad to lose him from his role as building principal, we are excited to continue working with him in this new role.”
Leeman is currently principal at Clear Creek Elementary (CCE) and is in his sixth year with the district. He has been in education for 16 years with 11 years as an administrator. “I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the staff at CCE and look forward to being able to be a part of the district in an even greater capacity,” Leeman said.
Leeman is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa where he received his elementary teaching degree, master’s in administrative leadership and his superintendent endorsement.
He began his career as a kindergarten teacher in Postville, then moved to first and fourth grade teacher positions. He next served as dean of students and 6-12 principal at Postville. Leeman moved to Gladbrook-Reinbeck as 9-12 principal, and later K-5 principal before coming to the Clear Creek Amana.
Matt and his family reside in Cedar Rapids. His wife Lori was a teacher at North Bend Elementary and is currently at home with their two sons, Myles, 3, and Zander, 1.
