“Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” is tale as old as time

Belle (Khloe Burkham) is absorbed in her book and dreams of a life away from her provincial town during Solon High School’s performance of “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.”

SOLON– It was a classic story of love and redemption.
The Solon High School Drama Department’s fall musical, “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” was presented to the public in the Center for the Arts Friday through Sunday, Nov. 15-17.
Director Sami McAtee reported all three shows were almost sold out. “The kids worked so hard to make the magic come to life and we cannot wait until the spring show, to share the magic again,” she said.
In the Solon High School production, Khloe Burkham portrayed Belle, the beautiful young girl who feels a need for a life outside her provincial town, while Jack Leick performed as The Beast, cursed by an enchantress. Nash Altman was Gaston, the local hunter who pursues Belle only for her beauty, while Stetson McIlravy was LeFou, Gaston’s comical sidekick.
“It is always a pleasure to work with such highly motivated students, who want to succeed and who are willing to put in the countless hours it takes for a production this size,” noted Solon High School Director of Choral Activities Joel Foreman. “We have singers, dancers, tech crew, set designers, costumers and more, all who play multiple sports, hold down jobs, take college courses and choose to remain in music because of its value and importance to their lives. The music family is deep and wide and we hope more and more students will continue to participate in the arts.”
