Feb. 18, 2010
NORTH LIBERTY LEADER

Order Flowers

Jean Weno of Solon left her earthly home on Feb. 9, 2010, with her family by her side.
Wilma Jean Gleason was born in Mechanicsville, on Sept 7, 1933, the daughter of the late Dorothy (nee Stoneking) and Frank Gleason, and lived there until 1944. She grew up in St. Joseph, Mich., and moved to Cedar Rapids in 1956. She married James Weno of Iowa City on April 28, 1979. She loved spending time with her family more than anything. Jean and her sisters and cousins organized many family get-togethers over the years, although distance didn't always make it easy. Her favorite times were being surrounded by those she loved. Meme loved her trips to Washington, Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Michigan, Florida - wherever there was family to be found. She enjoyed her impromptu trips with Jim to Northern Iowa and Prairie du Chen. Grandma made many happy memories at Lake Macbride, the park in Solon and right in her own backyard. She worked for many years at Sheller Globe in Iowa City and treasured the friendships she made.
Jean will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Jim, who was by her side each day of her long battle; her children, Rodney (Lisa) Perdue of West Liberty, Clayton (Molly) Perdue of West Branch, Regina (Chuck) Conn of Bremerton, Wash., and Carole (Jefferson) Perdue of Iowa City; her siblings Frank (Susanne) Gleason of Clearwater, Fla., Paul (Joyce) Gleason of Longwood, Fla., Joan (Gary) Smith of Powder Springs, Ga., Connie (Gary) Mitchell of Morrisville, Ind., Linda (Jim) Bryant of Clayton, Ind; special sister-in-law, Peggy Gleason of Marion; her grandchildren, Nicole, Christopher, Alexander, Elizabeth, Natalie, Dylan, Audrey, Sierra and Alina; great-grandchildren, Christian and Cameron; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Dale Gleason; her sister, Phyllis (Art) Fay; her granddaughter, Melissa; and great-granddaughter, Casey.
Jean's wish was to be cremated. Inurnment was in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a celebration of Jean's life held later this year.
